Luggage factory in Bogor, Indonesia - frequently asked questions

Questions Buyers Ask Before Ordering

The MOQ, sampling, tooling, payment, lead time and quality answers buyers ask for first - with the numbers, not the hedging.

The factory

Are you a factory or a trading company? We are the factory. DJI Luggage manufactures in Bogor, West Java, Indonesia, with 75 staff and two 1,500-tonne injection machines. The group has manufactured luggage since 2011 — 14 years — and this Indonesia factory has been producing since 2025. Mould making is 100% in-house, which is why we can quote a new shell shape without waiting on a third party. Brands that audit us usually start with this question, and a factory visit or video walkthrough can be arranged.

What certifications does the factory hold? We operate under Indonesian industrial license NIB 0710250022508 (KBLI 15121), with ISO 9001 quality management registration currently in progress. Finished cases are sent to SGS for third-party physical testing. Note the distinction: those are test reports on the samples submitted, not a product certification, and component certifications belong to the component makers.

Can we visit or audit the factory? Yes. The factory is in Bogor, roughly 50-70 km from Jakarta, and visits are arranged in advance. If travel is not practical, we run a video walkthrough of the production lines and the QC stations.

Ordering and MOQ

What is your minimum order quantity? 100 units per SKU. That is per SKU, not per order - so you can mix several colours or sizes in one purchase order as long as each individual SKU reaches 100.

Can we start smaller, to test a market? Sampling comes first and is how most brands de-risk: 2-3 units in your chosen colour and hardware, made and inspected before you commit to a bulk run. 100 units per SKU is deliberately low for a luggage factory, so a first order can validate sell-through before you commit to a container.

How much is a sample, and is it refundable? Sampling is charged at the development cost, and that amount is credited against your bulk order. You are not paying twice for development.

How long does sampling take? 7-15 working days after the component direction is approved. If the shell shape is new rather than an existing structure, add mould time on top.

Cost, tooling and payment

How do you quote, and what do you need from us? Send quantity per SKU, destination market, target price, and any artwork or reference sample. Destination matters because it changes the quote: export customers are quoted FOB, while Indonesian customers are quoted EXW.

What are your payment terms? 30% deposit and 70% balance, the same for every order type. Production starts once the deposit is received and the sample is approved - the lead time counts from that point.

Is there a mould fee? For a new shell shape, mould making is free once the volume reaches an agreed level. Below that level the tooling cost is quoted separately. The threshold depends on the case size and the number of parts, so it is set per project rather than published as a flat figure.

Production and delivery

What is the lead time, and when does it start? 25-55 days. The clock starts when two things are both done: the deposit has been received, and the sample has been approved. Until both are true the lead time has not begun.

How long from first enquiry to goods arriving? Production is 25-55 days after the deposit is received and the sample is approved. The sea leg is arranged by your freight forwarder, not by us - we hand over at Tanjung Priok, and transit time depends on the forwarder, the routing and the sailing they book. We give you the loading date and the export documents so your forwarder can plan.

What Incoterms do you ship on? FOB for export customers and EXW for customers in Indonesia. FOB means our responsibility ends when the goods are loaded at Tanjung Priok; destination clearance, duties and delivery are not included.

Quality and export

How do you control quality? Inspection follows standard AQL sampling rather than a visual once-over, and it runs at more than one point: incoming material, in-process on the line, and a final inspection before packing. Finished cases are sent to SGS for third-party sample testing against our physical luggage durability protocol (900 mm drop, -12 °C cold drop, 8 km + 4 km wheel endurance, 40/60 kg stacking, and ISO 9227 / ASTM B117 salt spray).

We import into Australia - what should we know? Two things decide your landed cost. Duty: the Indonesia-Australia CEPA has removed tariffs on Indonesian goods, so cases enter Australia duty-free, provided you hold a Certificate of Origin. Packaging: all solid-wood packaging must meet ISPM 15 with heat treatment and the IPPC stamp. We supply on plastic or plywood pallets, which sidesteps the biosecurity inspection that solid-wood pallets trigger.
