TL;DR: Launching a private-label suitcase line in Indonesia
A private-label luggage programme puts your brand name, industrial design, and retail packaging on suitcases built on proven factory tooling. At DJI Luggage (PT. DJI Travel Products Indonesia · NIB 0710250022508 · KBLI 15121) in Bogor, West Java, Indonesia — roughly 60 km south of Greater Jakarta and Tanjung Priok export port — we manufacture custom hardshell suitcases and soft-shell trolley cases across two 1,500-tonne injection moulding machines with 100% in-house CNC mould making. Our group has manufactured travel goods since 2011 (14 years), and our Bogor plant has operated since 2025 with 75 staff and a monthly capacity of 80,000 units, shipping over 100 × 40HQ containers annually to China, Indonesia, the United States, Germany, Australia, and the United Kingdom.
Six branding touchpoints and Bill of Materials (BOM) control
First-time travel brands and corporate buyers often assume private labelling requires tens of thousands of dollars in custom shell moulds. In practice, starting on an ODM contract manufacturing basis lets you use our active shell moulds at zero tooling cost while customizing six high-visibility branding touchpoints across your Bill of Materials (BOM):
| Branding Touchpoint | Customisation Options | Engineering & Production Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Front Brand Badge | Stamped zinc-alloy or aluminium plate, recessed enamel badge, or debossed patch | Mounted into a recessed cavity on the front shell so airport conveyors cannot shear it off |
| 2. Custom Zipper Pullers | Die-cast metal pullers with embossed or laser-etched logo on YKK zippers | Fitted across main perimeter zippers and interior divider compartments |
| 3. Telescopic Handle & Frame | Laser-engraved logo on aluminium trolley tube, grip cap, or 5052/6061 frame latch | Multi-stage ergonomic trolley handle matched to wheel housing height |
| 4. Interior Lining & Labels | Custom repeat-pattern sublimation print, woven brand label, care & origin label | Divided twin-chamber interior with dry-wet separation pocket and compression straps |
| 5. Shell Colour & Surface | Pantone colour matching in micro-diamond matte, high-gloss, or brushed metallic | Moulded in Covestro PC, PP, ABS+PC, or anodised 5052/6061 aluminium |
| 6. Retail & Export Packaging | Printed hangtags, warranty manual, EAN/UPC barcode sticker, 5-ply export carton | Built to EU PPWR, US CONEG (<100 ppm heavy metals), and REACH (no DMFu) |
Choosing your SKU architecture: carry-on vs 3-piece nested sets
How you structure your SKU count directly affects your minimum order investment and 40HQ ocean freight landed cost. Because our minimum order quantity is 100 units per SKU (defined as one colour in one size), brands typically launch with one of three architectures:
- Hero Carry-On Launch (20" Cabin Luggage): Ordering 100 to 300 units across two or three core colours (such as matte black, silver, and olive green) in our standard 20" carry-on size (37.6×22.6×58.4 cm · 39 L · 4.38 kg). This works best for DTC e-commerce brands and executive corporate gifting programmes using Covestro polycarbonate or zipperless 5052/6061 aluminium frames.
- 3-Piece Nested Set (20" + 24" + 28" Trolley Cases): Packing a 20" cabin case inside a 24" medium checked suitcase (37.6×30.5×65.5 cm · 60 L · 4.88 kg) inside a 28" large checked suitcase (49.5×32×68.5 cm · 5.2 kg). Nested sets cut ocean container volume per suitcase by more than half and are the standard format for department stores, wholesalers, and supermarket chains ordering injection-moulded polypropylene (PP) or ABS+PC composite lines.
- Pilgrimage & Tour Operator Sets (26" + 18" 2-in-1): For Southeast Asian and Middle Eastern travel agencies running Umroh and Hajj groups, we produce colour-matched 26-inch checked plus 18-inch cabin sets packed two-in-one per carton with silk-screened agency branding.
Quality gates: IQC, IPQC, OQC and physical durability testing
Putting your brand name on a suitcase means your customer service team absorbs every broken wheel or split zipper. Even on entry-tier private-label runs, we standardise on YKK zippers, TSA-compatible combination locks, and SilentMove 360° spinner wheels. Every order moves through incoming quality control (IQC) on resin pellets and hardware, in-process quality control (IPQC) along the assembly line, and final pre-shipment AQL inspection (OQC) before loading at Tanjung Priok port in Jakarta.
Completed suitcases are tested against our mechanical durability protocol: a 900 mm loaded drop onto a solid steel impact plate, a 90 cm cold drop after four hours at −12 °C, SilentMove wheel endurance runs across 8 km of cement drum plus 4 km of cleated conveyor (wear ≤ 2 mm), four-hour 40 kg / 60 kg static stacking, ISO 6506 / ASTM E10 Brinell hardness (≥ 40 HWB on 5052/6061 aluminium frames), and 16-hour neutral salt spray corrosion testing (ISO 9227 / ASTM B117). Finished samples are also submitted to SGS for third-party test reports.
Five inputs to send when requesting a private-label quotation
- Product format and sizes: Single 20" carry-ons, 24"/28" checked luggage, or 3-piece nested sets.

- Artwork and branding vector files: AI/PDF logo files for the front metal badge, YKK puller, interior lining, and carton shipping marks.
- Destination country and Incoterms: Whether you need FOB Jakarta (Tanjung Priok) for international sea freight (with Indonesian Certificate of Origin — Form D, Form E, RCEP, IJEPA, or general COO under HS code 4202.12) or EXW Bogor for domestic Indonesian distribution.
- Target quantity per SKU and delivery window: Starting from MOQ 100 units per SKU, allowing 7–15 working days for sampling and 25–55 days for bulk production.
Send these five details through our quote request form and our engineering team in Bogor will return a structured BOM breakdown and unit quotation.
